Local surgeon and Lufteknic staffer Dr. John has a 1965 356C. One of the last 50 made before the seismic/tectonical shift to the first 911. He and his wife put 5K-10K miles a year on this car, driving to 356 events as far away from Richmond as California.
This past weekend they were on their way down Interstate 85 to a 356 show in Atlanta. They didn't make it. Rear-ended on the highway by a minivan, then shoved nose first up under a Chevy Tahoe. You see the results in these pics -- taken after the now even shorter car was flat-bedded back to the shop. Dr. John and his wife are fine -- bruised and sore but OK.
It seems the engine was undamaged. and the doors still open and close. To take a hit--2 hits! -- at highway speeds and look like this is amazing, we think. Which makes this car a candidate for restoration.
Watch this blog over the winter as the crew gets to work on returning her to her former glory. As Senior says, 'She'll buff right out..."
